Trout Stream Cottage

Trout Stream Cottage | Catsfield, East Sussex

Completed 2002

Extension to an Edwardian cottage within a rural village.

This single-storey extension to an Edwardian farmer’s cottage provides a new kitchen and dining area connecting to the living area and creating a large family room which opens onto the garden.

The roof is formed in lead as a gentle curve emerging from under the steeply pitched tiled roof. Roof-lights and oak framed double glazed doors allow light to flood into the living space and enhance the feeling of connection to the garden while reducing the need for artificial lighting. The traditional brickwork of the exterior walls help the extension fit seamlessly with the original structure and match the rustic design of the interior.
