Double extension and major internal refurbishment of a 3-bedroom home
This project consists of a single-story extension to the front of the property, a two-storey contemporary rear extension running the width of the house, as well as a full internal refurbishment and remodel. The rear extension replaces an existing one that was not in keeping with the house design, and the front extension makes the front facade more visually cohesive as well as adding living space.
The stairs are being moved to the other end of the home, making more open-plan space and improving light and circulation space. The rear extension is being used for living, dining and kitchen areas with seamless connection to the garden and timber decking through the contemporary slim framed sliding doors. The stairs expose a feature double-storey light-well which floods the ground floor with daylight from the upper roof light. The first floor has been remodelled to provide three comfortable double bedrooms and a generous family bathroom. Previously, the property had two very awkward bedrooms, one with the stairs leading directly into it and the other only accessible through the master bedroom.
The project will give the client the extra living space they need while making the whole house more comfortable, accessible and visually appealing.
