Two semi-detached family homes mixing contemporary and traditional design
This project replaces an old bungalow with two new semi-detached family homes, each with 4 bedrooms and a garden. The form and style is contemporary, combined with a traditional palette of materials including red bricks and timber. These materials are referenced in the surrounding buildings, making the new properties fit in naturally with the street scene.
Both homes have open plan living, dining and kitchen space leading out to a patio and providing views to the garden. The houses were designed to adhere to the now defunct Code for Sustainable Homes, and have several ecological features including solar thermal panels, a rainwater harvesting system, a pond for wildlife and a raised bed for growing vegetables.
