Lane House | Rodmell, East Sussex
An extension and refurbishment of a rural home overlooking the South Downs.
A refurbishment and extension to a rural property within a spacious grounds, south of Lewes near the village of Rodmell. The house had been extended several times by previous occupiers in an eclectic mix of different styles. The client wanted a redesign to aesthetically unify the property and also make it more sustainable.
A new fully glazed conservatory replaced an existing one that was not fit for purpose, while glazing was added to the main lobby to flood the entrance with natural light, windows were upgraded to double and triple glazing, and a biomass boiler was added. Additionally, the exterior tile cladding was replaced with timber cladding for a more natural look.
Sitting at the top of the South Downs and overlooking the river Ouse, the rural home benefits from stunning views and an extensive garden which is used for growing vegetables and trees, with the help of WWOOF volunteers.
“Mark has been very straight-forward and professional and has given me sound practical advice. The designs reflect my wishes and were done in a timely fashion. He answered all my questions and clearly has a broad knowledge of the industry”.
