Fallbrook Development

Fallbrook | Plumpton, East Sussex

Completed 2013

Three contemporary detached homes and one holiday home within the South Downs.

This rural development composes three contemporary rural homes and a holiday home designed for let, all within the sensitive and scenic area of the South Downs National Park.

The design sensitively responds to the countryside setting. The houses at the lower part of the site are orientated to capitalise on views of the South Downs and to maximise winter passive solar gain, helping to reduce energy demand, runnings costs and carbon emissions. The smaller house and holiday let at the top part of the site act as a ’gatehouse’ to the development.

The natural gradient of the site has been utilised to minimise the visual impact of the larger dwellings. The building forms draw inspiration from the familiar shapes and rhythms of surrounding buildings and scattered outbuildings.
